Professor Zhao Xinyuan's Team from School of Public Health Uncovers Regulatory Mechanism of Alveolar Macrophage Senescence in Silicosis

2026-05-23

Recently, the research team led by Professor Zhao Xinyuan from the School of Public Health published an online paper in the prestigious international journal Advanced Science , titled "SIRT6-mediated deacetylation of ATF3 promotes silica-induced lung fibrosis by enhancing its nuclear import via binding to Importin α." This study elucidates the pathogenic mechanism by which deacetylated activating transcription factor 3 (ATF3) promotes silica-induced pulmonary fibrosis through enhanced nuclear translocation and alveolar macrophage senescence, while also identifying potential therapeutic targets for lung fibrosis.

The paper features co-first authors: Dr. Cheng Demin, Ph.D. student Bu Wenxia, master's student Wang Fengxu, and Ph.D. student Jin Yueyuan from the School of Public Health. Professor Zhao Xinyuan and Professor Zhou Xiaoyu from the Affiliated Hospital serve as co-corresponding authors.
