Nantong University International Symphony Orchestra Performs at Shanghai Spring International Music Festival
On the evening of April 4, the "Songs of Jianghai" Nantong University International Symphony Orchestra Special Concert was held at the main hall of the Shanghai Symphony Hall as a core showcase event of the 41st Shanghai Spring International Music Festival. Distinguished guests in attendance included Tiziana D’Angelo (Consul General of Italy in Shanghai), Luciano Tanto Clement (Consul General of Argentina in Shanghai), Özlem Kural (Consul General of Turkey in Shanghai), Wang Weidong (Deputy Secretary of the University Party Committee), and Chen Yujuan (Vice President of Nantong University).
The concert was conducted by Roberto Fiore, Nantong University's foreign professor and Music Director & Principal Conductor of the International Symphony Orchestra. More than 80 Chinese and international faculty and student musicians performed together on stage. A total of 14 masterpieces, including Symphonic Overture No. 1, Norma, and Carmen, were presented throughout the evening. The program not only showcased the contemporary spirit of original Chinese symphonic works but also demonstrated the timeless charm of Western classical repertoire, weaving together a musical tapestry that bridges China and the West, as well as ancient and modern traditions.
