NTU Clinches Outstanding Results in NECCS 2022
NTU students won three grand prizes and six first prizes as the recent National English Competition for College Students (NECCS) met its curtain call.
NECCS is the only authoritative national contest testing English comprehensive abilities for college students, serving as an important indicator and incentive mechanism for the English teaching level in colleges of China. It is approved by the Department of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education, co-sponsored by the National Foreign Languages Teaching Advisory Board and the College English Teaching & Research Association of China, and undertaken by the English Coaching Paper. The annually-held contest has set four channels, namely A, B, C and D—— A for graduate students; B for English majors in colleges and universities; C for undergraduates of non-English majors and D, candidates practicing sports and art and non-English majors undergoing vocational education. Each category gives out four levels of prizes, i.e., the grand prize(1 ‰), the first prize(5 ‰), the second prize and the third prize. This year, 400 graduate students of non-English majors, 400 undergraduates of English majors and 1400 undergraduates of non-English majors participated respectively in Band A, B and C. Eight undergraduates and one postgraduate in total made it to the finals after being sifted through preliminary contests and ultimately grabbed one first prize in Band A, two first prizes in Band B, and three grand prizes plus three first prizes in Band C.
