Professor Zhang Xuecheng’s Works Selected for 2022 National Funding Project for Collation and Publication of Ancient Books
Recently, Interpretation of Pei Xi, a monograph written by Professor Zhang Xuecheng from School of Liberal Arts, was selected for 2022 National Funding Project for Collation and Publication of Ancient Books, declared by Office of National Leading Group for Collation and Publication Planning of Ancient Books under the National Press and Publication Administration.
Pei Xi, an important work in the history of Chinese Philology with rich content and rigorous structure was written by Guo Zhongshu, a philologist in Song Dynasty (AD 960-1279) and included in Confucian Classics Section of The Four Categories. Professor Zhang Xuecheng took years of efforts in searching for editions, correcting errors and interpreting ideas of Pei Xi through punctuating, collating, annotating, thus making it another achievement of his research on arcane studies.
2022 National Funding Project for Collation and Publication of Ancient Books is a national-level funding project for publication of works with high edition value, academic value and cultural heritage value, which help promote great Chinese traditional culture. The Office of National Planning leading Group for Collation and Publication of Ancient Books takes the charge, with a total of 77 projects selected this year. Professor Zhang’s works is also an achievement of the project directly funded by National Committee of Collation and Research of Ancient Books in Colleges and Universities
