Recently, Clarivate released the latest ESI data by January 2022, which shows that Nantong University ranks 1430^th internationally and 1.855‰ among the global institutions, 145 places higher year on year. Besides, it ranks 114^th among Chinese universities, up 1 place.

NTU’s international ranking has continued to improve in recent years. In January 2019, it ranked 1886^th among the top 3.213‰; one year later in January 2020, the figure changed to 1743^rd, 2.717‰; then, in January 2021, 1575^th, 2.32‰. In the past three years, NTU has improved 456 places in the global ranking of the overall competitiveness of its disciplines.

Statistics show that the international ranking of the 6 disciplines in the top 1% of ESI has also improved steadily. Among them, Clinical Medicine ranks 1423^rd, 55 places higher than the same period of last year, ranking among the top 3‰ in the world. Engineering Science ranks 866^th and stands among the top 5‰ globally, up 96 places. Neuroscience and Behavivor ranks 563^rd, up 38 places. Pharmacology and Toxicology ranks 558^th, up 108 places. In terms of the newly added disciplines in 2021, Biology and Biochemistry ranks 1140^th, rising by 38 places. Chemistry ranks 1439^th, up 20 places. In addition, with its potential value reaching 1.05, Materials Science is expected to enter the top 1% in ESI global discipline ranking list in the near future; the potential value of Molecular Biology and Genetics has exceeded 0.9 and reaches 0.92.

Over the past three years, the university has strengthened strategic planning and top-level design and adhered to the connotation construction of the disciplines, encouraging stronger cooperation with high-level and high-quality output. As a result, NTU has achieved great progress in the construction of internationally reputable disciplines with one more discipline entering the world top 1% list of ESI yearly on average.
