Recently,Dr. Wang Hui, a young teacher of School of Pharmacy, published a research paper entitled Inactivation of Hedgehog signal transduction in adult astrocytes results in region-specific blood-brain barrier defects in PNAS (Proceedings of the National Academy of the Sciences of the United States of America) with his postgraduate Xu Zhiyan as the co-first authors and Nantong University the first employer via Track II. This study clarifies the role of the Hedgehog (Hh) pathway in regulating the blood–brain/spinal cord barrier (BBB), providing a new theoretical basis for the clinical treatment of related neurological diseases.
