The Research Result on the Application of Erythrocyte-inspired Drug Delivery Platform by Professor Gu Haiying and His Team of the School of Public Health Was Published in the International Authoritative Journal

2020-05-08

Recently, Professor Gu Haiying and his team of the School of Public Health has built the erythrocyte-inspired drug delivery platform to achieve autonomous and stable drug delivery in human body. This study effectively solves the problem of unstable drug concentration in the blood and the failure to maximize the curative effect in administration of drugs with short half-life. The research result titled Overcoming hypoxia-restrained radiotherapy using an erythrocyte-inspired and glucose-activatable platform, was recently published in NANO LETTERS.

This study reported a drug delivery platform that can release drugs autonomously and maintain stable drug concentration in the blood, so as to solve the problem of frequent administration of recombinant human endothelin inhibitor and unstable drug concentration in the blood, thus achieving rapid vascular normalization for the tumors, effectively overcoming tumor hypoxia and improving the effect of radiotherapy. The construction of this platform and the research on this platform offer great significant reference for realization of the drug administration at stable drug concentration in the blood and the clinical tumor treatment.
