The Project Presided over by Professor Shi Weidong is funded by National Key R&D Program of "Manufacturing Basic Technology and Key Components"

Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a document listing the 2019 approved key projects under the national key research and development program of Manufacturing Basic Technology and Key Components. The project, named as Long Life Corrosion Resistant Hydraulic Components and System Key Technology for Marine Engineering Equipment (No .2019 YFB2005300) and applied for by the project leader Professor Shi Weidong of our university, has been successfully approved, and the central financial authority will fund the project totaling CNY13.8 million. So far, our university faculty has presided over a total of 5 national key R & D projects.

The project focuses on high-end hydraulic and sealing components, specially on the research of basic advanced technology, breaking through the common critical technique of the industry to improve our nation’s independent innovation capability of the design and manufacture of core components for marine engineering equipment and to provide strong technical support for the implementation of the nation’s  strategy for marine power. The project is initiated by Nantong COTCO Shipping Engineering Co., Ltd., and the ten institutes and enterprisesof Nantong University, Shandong University, Jiangsu Xugong Construction Machinery Research Institute Co., Ltd., and the Institute of Metals under the ChineseAcademy of Sciences, jointly applied for the project. Our university has participated in the research and development of three subjects: Research and Development of Long Life Multiplex Combined Seals and High Performance hydraulic Cylinders in Marine Environment, Research and Verification of Automatic Synchronous/ synchronous Lifting Hydraulic System in Marine Engineering Equipment and Research and Verification of Wave Compensation Hydraulic System in Marine Engineering Equipment .

The successful approval of the project is the landmark achievement as a result of the construction of mechanical mngineering faculty in our university which is appraised as the superior discipline among Jiangsu universities, and provides a strong support for further speeding up the realization of the 8050 Plan and establishing a high level university with distinctive characteristics.
