Mr. Xu Guanren is a famous nuclear agronomist, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences. He was born in Nantong, Jiangsu on March 7, 1914. In 1930, he entered Nantong University to study agricultural science. He was the Director and Honorary Director of the Institute for Application of Atomic Energy of CASS, and was elected a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (academician) in 1980. He died of illness in Los   Angeles on February 18, 2004.
