Yang Yaoqin was born in 1959 in Dafeng, Jiangsu Province. In 1977, she began studying medicine in the Medical Department of former NantongMedicalCollege. She is currently the deputy director of the Institute of Oncology and director of the Department of Tissue Embryology at TongjiUniversityMedicalCollege.

Dr. Yang has served as a deputy of the National People's Congress of Putuo District in Shanghai, executive director of the Tumor Hypertherapy Society of the Chinese Radiotherapy Society, director of Asian Society of Oncology and Hyperthermia, vice president of Shanghai Institute of Anatomy, and director of Society of Life Electronics.

Dr. Yang led of and participated in projects from the National Natural Science Foundation and other provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects. She won second prize for Scientific and Technological Progress at the ministerial level.

She has been honored as an Outstanding Young Teachers of Colleges and Universities in Shanghai, Young and Middle - aged Scientific Experts with Outstanding Contributions by the Ministry of Railways and Model Workers of the Ministry of Railways and receives the special stipend from the State Council.
