Qin Hourong was born in 1962 in Hai'an, JiangsuProvince. In 1978, he entered the Mathematics Department of the former NantongNormalCollege. He is currently a member of the Communist Party Committee of Nanjing University, secretary of the Party Committee of Mathematics Department, and a member of the Standing Committee of the 15th National People's Congress in Gulou District of Nanjing. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor.
Professor Qin is the winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, specially invited professor of the Yangtze Scholars Award Plan of the Education Ministry, one of the first selected as talent of the “Millions Talents Plan”, and receives the special stipend from the State Council.
He is the chairman of Jiangsu Mathematics Association, and the member of Defense Committee for Ph.D. thesis in University of Nijmegen, Netherlands. He has won the Second Jiangsu Young Scientist Award, the Ten Stars of Science and Technology in Nanjing, the Outstanding Young Key Teacher and the Star of Hope in NanjingUniversity.
