Jiang Weijian

Jiang Weijian was born in 1960 in Nantong, Jiangsu Province. In 1978, he was admitted to in the Medical Department of the former NantongMedicalCollege to study medicine. He is currently the vice president of Rocket  Army GeneralHospital, director, chief physician, professor, and doctoral supervisor at the Stroke Treatment and ResearchCenter.

Dr. Jiang worked at BeijingUnionHospital, PLA 305 Hospital, Sino-JapaneseFriendshipHospital, No.1 Affiliated Hospital to of TsinghuaUniversity, and BeijingTiantanHospital. He pioneered the first study of intracranial arterial stent forming in China, formed the first Chinese multidisciplinary ischemic cerebrovascular treatment team, and carried out the first successful Appolo and Wingpan intracranial artery stent implant in China. As the first patent designer, he cooperated with Minimally Invasive Medical Device (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. to research and produce the first special stent for intracranial arterioplasty. As chairman, he organized and attended the most influential and advanced stroke conference - the Tiantan International Stroke Conference, and the New Era International Multidisciplinary Sharing (NEIMS) Conference.   

Dr. Jiang received the Health Ministry‘s award of Outstanding Youth Contributors and Expert, the medal of Capital Labor, the discipline leader of First Generation Nervous Intervention in Beijing’s health system, and other titles. He won first prize of Scientific and Technological Progress by the Ministry of Education, second prize of Beijing Scientific and Technological Progress, and second prize of Chinese medical science and technology award.

Dr. Jiang is in charge of research on the formation of symptomatic intracranial artery stenosis stent, a China’s national “10th Five-Year” Science and Technology Project.
