Guan Youfei was born in Yangzhou,  Jiangsu Province in 1965. In 1981 he entered the former NantongMedicalCollege to study medicine. He is now the vice president of DalianMedicalCollege.

Dr. Guan was an assistant professor at the Kidney Disease and Diabetes center at VanderbiltUniversityMedicalCenter. He is a professor and director of physiology and pathophysiology at BeijingUniversity’s medical department, co-director of diabetes research center at BeijingUniversity, associate dean of BasicMedicineCollege under BeijingUniversity and director of medical department of ShenzhenUniversity.

Dr. Guan is a Special Professor of Yangtze River Scholar of Education Ministry, winner of National Outstanding Youth Fund, chief scientist of 973 Project of Fatty liver and Hyperlipidemia Prevention and Research sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology. He was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the key Foundation for Scientific Research by Education Ministry, and won the National Guanghua Award in 1993.
