Du Yansun

Du Yansun, an expert in dyeing and finishing engineering, was born in 1912 in Shaoxing, Zhejiang. In 1932, he entered the former NantongCollege majoring Dyeing Chemistry

Mr. Du was an engineer and director of Works of Shanghai First Printing and Dyeing Factory. He was the industry section chief of East China Textile Administration Bureau and concurrently the professor of ShanghaiJiaotongUniversity and EastChinaTextileCollege. He was the deputy director and director of Textile Ministry, deputy president and senior engineer of Textile Science Research Institute (now China Textile Science Institute), standing director and concurrent deputy secretary of the 15th through 17th Board of China Textile Engineering Association, and deputy chairman of the 18th board thereof.

Mr. Du was the founder of China’s first printing and dyeing journal. He published two books“Domestic Dyeing Method with Botanic Dyeing Material” and “Cotton Scouring and Bleaching”. and he was the founder of China's first printing and dyeing journal. He was appraised as a Class 3National Engineer by the Ministry of Textile Industry in 1954, and subsequentlypromoted to a Class 2 in 1963. From 1959 to 1966, he was engaged as a member of the Professional Textile Group of the State Science and Technology Commission. He received the special government stipend from the year of 1990. He was a deputy of the Third National People’s Congress, and a member of the 5th, 6th and 7th National CPPCC. Mr. Du passed away in March 2011 in Beijing.
