Cheng Chunwas born in October 1963 inDongtai, Jiangsu Province. Entering the Department of Clinical Medicine of Nantong Medical College in 1980, he graduated in 1985 and worked in the college as a teacher. Currently serving as Party Committee Secretary of the Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, he is also a professor doctoral supervisor, member of the standing committee of Jiangsu Science and Technology Association, and educational supervisor of JiangsuProvince.

At NantongMedicalCollege, he was the deputy director (chair) of the Foundation Department, deputy secretary of Party Committee General Branch, anddirector of Academic Affairs. He was a member of the Party Standing Committee and vice president of NantongMedicalCollege in December 1999; served as a member of the Party Standing Committee of Nantong University and vice president of NantongUniversity in August 2004; and became president and deputy party secretary of NantongUniversity in May 2014.

He is the vice chairman of the Navigation Branch of China Medical Association, vice chairman of Jiangsu Institute of Biotechnology Association, executive director of Jiangsu Branch of China Society of Immunology, director of Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Inflammation and Molecular Targeted Drug,executive director of Higher Education Management Research Association of China Higher Education Institute, executive director of National College Teaching Research Association, and vice chairman of Medical Education Research Association in Jiangsu Universities.

Under Professor Chen’s guidance, the project “Medical Students’ Comprehensive Ability Enhancement and Innovative Practice based on Clinical Skills Training” won the Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Achievement Award (of Higher Education category). He also received 3 Jiangsu Teaching Achievement Awards (Second and Third Prizes). Furthermore, heconducted research in neuroimmunology and tumor immunology, led more than 20 research projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation, won 4 Progress Awards in Science and Technology (provincial and ministerial level), published more than 60 SCI papers, and edited / co-edited 3 textbooks.
