On July 19, 2018, the team cooperation of Gu Xiaosong, academician of the China Engineering Academy and professor from Nantong University and He zhigang from Harvard Medical School published a research paper online in Cell, titled The Reactivation of Dormant Relay Pathways in Injured Spinal Cord by KCC2 Manipulations. It proved, for the first time, the intermediate disturbance in the excitability of neurons is hampering the functional recovery after Spinal Cord injury. At the same time, the new therapeutic strategy of functional recovery can be effectively improved by balancing the excitability of inhibitory neurons in spinal cord. This is the first time the research results of our university published in the top international journal of Cell. Dr. Yu Bin from the research group of Academician Gu Xiaosong is the co-first author of the research paper.
