On the afternoon of April 23, 2019, the unveiling ceremony of the National and Local-JointEngineeringResearchCenter for Study of Special Fiber Composite Materials for Safety Protection was held in our University. Liang Baoshan (Director of Innovation and High-tech Development Department of Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission) and Shi Weidong (President of Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission) jointly unveiled The National-Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Study of Special Fiber Composite Materials for Safety Protection of Nantong University. Vice President Yang Yumin and representatives from more than 80 Nantong high-end textile enterprises and institutions attended the event.

The National and Local-JointEngineeringResearchCenter for Study of Special Fiber Composite Materials for Safety Protection of Nantong University is a national science and technology innovation platform approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in December 2017. The Research Center focuses on researching in 6 main aspects, such as the biochemical protective around a nucleus high-performance fiber composite material, the high performance fiber composite materials for radiation protection, the bulletproof and mechanical damage of high performance fiber composite materials, the heat protection of high performance fiber high-performance fiber composite materials and composite materials, and the medical protective wearable intelligent high performance fiber composites. The whole chain innovation design is carrying on from basic research, application research, product development, achievements transformation and industrialization and aiming to solve the emergency protection in the development of related industries, such as textile, major general key technical problems. In recent years, the Research Center has undertaken more than 30 projects including the national key research and development plan, the national natural science foundation, the special fund for the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in Jiangsu province, the science and technology supporting industry plan of Jiangsu province, and the natural science foundation of Jiangsu province, and won the first prize of science and technology progress of China textile federation, the second prize of science and technology progress of ministry of education, etc. More than 50 national invention patents have been authorized.
