The School of Transportation and Civil Engineering of Nantong University was established in January 2019 by the merger of the former School of Transportation and  School of Architectural Engineering. At present, the school has two master programs for  civil engineering and  computer technology (intelligent transportation), and five undergraduate  programs in Traffic Engineering, Transportation, Traffic Equipment and Control Engineering, Civil Engineering and Engineering Management.

The school has 115 faculty members, 90 of whom were full-time teachers. The full-time teachers include 34 professors and associate professors, 47 doctors, 12 doctor and master tutors. The School has Top Ten Science and Technology Stars of Jiangsu Construction Industry, 3 candidates for Jiangsu Province “Six Great Talents Summit” high-level outstanding personnel, 3 persons of the Ministry of Transportation “Youth Scientific and Technological Talents” , 5 young and middle-aged scientific and technological leaders of Jiangsu Province “333 Project for Training of High-Level Talented Person” , 3 young and middle-aged academic leaders of JiangsuProvince “Blue Project” and outstanding young backbone teachers. In addition, there are more than 10 outstanding teachers of professional and technical top talents.

The School grasps the new trend, strengthens the discipline construction, and now hosts and participates in more than 30 provincial and ministerial level projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, more than 50 municipal and departmental level projects, and published 9 books and more than 100 high-level papers ( included in SCI, EI); is granted with 2 international patents,  more than 60 national invention patents, 2 third awards for scientific and technological progress of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government, 1 second award for scientific and technological progress of China Automation Society, 2 second and third awards for Huaxia Construction Science and Technology of the Ministry of Housing and Construction, 2 first awards and 5 second awards for scientific and technological achievements of China Construction Enterprise Management Association, 2 second and third awards for scientific and technological progress of China Architecture Society, and 4 municipal-level progress awards.

Taking “serving the local economy and creating industry characteristics” as the important content of talent training mode reform, the school established one comprehensive transportation training center, one  comprehensive laboratory for civil engineering materials and structures and  and one technical laboratory for civil engineering construction.
