On August 18, the founding meeting of Nantong Alumni Association of Nantong University was held at Nantong Hotel. Pu Yuzhong, secretary of the Party Committee of Nantong University and chairman of the Supervisory Board of Nantong University Alumni Association, awarded to Nantong Alumni Association.The President Shi Weidong and President of Nantong University Alumni Association, awarded letters of appointment and delivered speeches to members of the first leading body of Nantong Alumni Association.Dong Zhengchao, Vice President and Vice President of Nantong University Alumni Association, read out the approval of the establishment of Nantong Alumni Association.Outstanding alumni representatives, 1986 alumni Chen Xiaodong, 1981 alumni Huang Weicheng, and 1978 alumni Wu Xu of Department of Chinese, brothers Alumni Association representatives, and Nantong alumni representatives, a total of more than 200 people gathered to make friendship contact for the alma mater friendship.

The first leading body of Nantong Alumni Association of Nantong University was elected.Cheng Jing, chairman of Nantong Cares for the Next Generation Working Committee and a Chinese major alumnus enrolled in 1976, was unanimously elected as honorary president of Nantong Alumni Association.Cao Ping, chairman of Nantong Haihui Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. and alumnus of dyeing and finishing major enrolled in 1985, was elected as president of Nantong Alumni Association.Wu Lusheng, director of Jianghai Youth Entrepreneurship Guidance Center of Nantong City and alumnus of mechanical major enrolled in 2004, made the preparatory report on behalf of the preparatory group of Nantong Alumni Association.

On behalf of the University and the Alumni Association, Shi Weidong congratulated the establishment of Nantong Alumni Association, thanked the alumni who had long supported and cared about the construction and development of the school, and introduced to the alumni who attended the meeting the new achievements made in the development of the school cause in recent years.He said that every step in the development of the school cause and every achievement achieved cannot be separated from the concern and support of the majority of alumni.Nantong is the seat of the Alma Mater, with many alumni and great influence. The establishment of Nantong Alumni Association is of great significance.He hoped that the first leading body of Nantong Alumni Association would organize and carry out all kinds of alumni activities, and truly make Nantong Alumni Association a platform for communication among alumni, a link between the alumni and their Alma Mater, a spiritual home and a harbor of soul for their cohesion.At the same time, Nantong Alumni Association shall strengthen its contacts with alumni associations, other alumni associations and Alma Mater. We should pay more attention to, care, support and promote the development of our Alma Mater in various ways, so as to provide more intellectual, material and spiritual support for the sound and rapid development of our Alma Mater cause in the new era. He called on every Nantong alumni to support the work of Nantong Alumni Association, seize the new opportunities for Nantong to develop as the strategic fulcrum of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the North Gate of Shanghai, and make greater contributions to the construction of “strong, rich, beautiful and top-level” New Nantong.

Cao Ping explained the proposed list of members of the first leading body of the Nantong Alumni Association and the process of its formation, and made a speech as the newly elected president of the Nantong Alumni Association. He pointed out: The Nantong Alumni Association is rooted in the “base area” of its alma mater and is relying on the rapid economic and social development of Nantong City in the Yangtze River Delta economic belt, which provides Nantong alumni with good opportunities for development. The establishment of Nantong Alumni Association provides a platform for Nantong alumni to enhance friendship, contact and exchange, nurture their alma mater and return to the society, which is a good and successful start. He said that as the first president of the Nantong Alumni Association of Nantong University, he will do his best to conduct his job seriously, strengthen alumni ties, gather alumni strength, integrate alumni resources, and do more work that is beneficial to society, the alma mater, and the personal development of alumni.

Li Junchao, a Chinese alumni enrolled in 1977 and president of Nanjing Alumni Association and former inspector of Jiangsu Provincial Agriculture and Rural Affairs Department, spoke on behalf of Brothers Alumni Association and congratulated Nantong Alumni Association on its establishment. He pointed out that the establishment of the Nantong Alumni Association has created a good environment for the alma mater to make better use of the local alumni resources, to further cultivate Nantong, and to move toward the world; it has also created conditions for Nantong alumni to make better use of the school and alumni resources, and to expand their career development to a new level.He said that the Nanjing Alumni Association will also take this opportunity to strengthen its ties with the Nantong Alumni Association and other alumni associations in other regions, to exchange experiences, learn from each other's strong points and complement each other’s weaknesses, seek common development, and promote the role of the alumni association in serving alumni and repaying their alma mater.

Several representative of alumni including Chen Xiaodong, , Chu Chengchun, alumnus of 1985 grade of clinical medicine and director of neurosurgery department of Nantong Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sun Maojun, alumnus of 1997 grade of dyeing and finishing major and president of Nantong Tenglong Composite Material Co., Ltd. , and Fan Ping, alumnus of 1983 grade of history and geography major and director of health care and rehabilitation center of Jiangsu National Medical Museum, made speeches at the meeting respectively.They looked back on their unforgettable time at their alma mater, thanked them for their education, and were proud of the achievements in their alma mater’s rapid development. They all expressed that their alma mater’s teachings were a lifelong asset, and that they would unite as one and exert all their abilities to jointly build a platform for cross-regional and cross-domain information exchange and resource sharing, so as to seek the well-being of the alumni and contribute their own strength to the alma mater’s brilliant future.
