Zhou Jiawei

Born in 1962, Zhou Jiawei is a native of Nantong, Jiangsu Province. In 1980 he entered the former NantongMedicalCollege to study medicine. Graduating in 1988 with a master’s degree, he stayed at the college to teach. He is currently a researcher, doctoral supervisor, and leader of the neuroscience research team at Shanghai Institute for Biological Sciences, ChineseAcademy of Sciences (CAS).

Professor Zhou has been a team leader at the Shanghai Institute of Physiology, CAS, team leader of Biochemistry and Cell Biology Institute of the Shanghai Institute for Biological Science, CAS, and the Institute for Neuroscience of Shanghai Institute for Biological Science, CAS. He served as deputy director of the State Key Laboratory for Neuroscience, executive director of the Chinese Society of Physiology, and director of the Chinese Society of Neuroscience, etc. He is also the editorial board member of the Journal of Physiology and has been a reviewer for international journals Prog. Neurobiol., Eur. J. Neurosci. and J. Neurochem.

He was in charge of the important directional project of knowledge innovation at CAS, the National Natural Science Foundation and the 863 project, and participated in the “973” project. He was included in the 100-Person Program of the ChineseAcademy of Sciences and is the winner of the Outstanding Youth Science Foundation of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
