Su Yanbin was born in 1909 in Rudong, Jiangsu Province. He started studying at the former NantongCollege’s textile department in 1926, and graduated in 1930.

Mr. Su was a member and secretary general of the Shanghai Executive Department of the Democratic League, advisor to the Finance and Economic Committee of the Shanghai Military Control Commission, adviser to the East China Textile Administration Bureau, member of the People's Supervision Committee of the East China Military and Political Commission, secretary - general of the China Textile Society, deputy director of the Shanghai Textile Industry Bureau of the East China Textile Administration, vice chairman of the Shanghai Branch of the Democratic League, member of the Shanghai Branch of the Democratic League, vice chairman, member of the Central Committee of the Democratic League and member of the Standing Committee of the Central Senate Committee of the Democratic League.

He was a member of the third to sixth CPPCC, a member of the Second Shanghai Municipal People's Committee, a deputy to the first to fifth Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, and a member of the first, third and fifth Shanghai CPPCC standing Committee. Mr. Su passed away in Shanghai in 1993.
